Hidden Stems

藏干 · Cánggān

The Heavenly Stems traditionally associated with the inside of each Earthly Branch. They describe additional element relationships beyond the stems visible at the top of the four pillars.

In more detail

Our chart lists one, two or three hidden stems for each branch from a fixed reference table. It does not turn these lists into numerical strength scores or percentages.

Also called: Concealed Stems

The characters

  1. 藏cángto hide; to store
  2. 干gāntrunk; stem

Together, 藏干 reads “stored stems”, the stems held inside a branch.
